FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've answered the most common ones below.

Yes. If your psychosocial disability or mental health condition is linked to your primary disability and impacts your daily functioning, the NDIS can fund behavioural and mental health supports under Improved Daily Living (Category 7) or Core Supports in your plan.

A Psychosocial Recovery Coach is a qualified professional who helps you build capacity, set goals, and navigate your mental health recovery journey. A support worker provides hands-on day-to-day assistance with daily tasks and community participation. Both can work together as part of your overall support team.

Not always. The NDIS focuses on how your condition impacts your daily life rather than the diagnosis itself. However, supporting evidence from your GP, psychiatrist, or psychologist will strengthen your plan request and help justify the level of funding needed.

Yes. Many behavioural and mental health supports can be delivered online or over the phone, making it easier to access consistent support regardless of your location, mobility, or comfort level attending in person across Sydney.

Your Behaviour Support Plan or crisis management plan will outline the steps to take during a crisis. Your support team will follow agreed protocols to keep you safe, which may include contacting your treating team, crisis lines, or emergency services if required.

Absolutely. Behavioural and mental health supports work best as part of a holistic support plan. They can be combined with Supported Independent Living, community participation, support coordination, and other allied health services funded under your NDIS plan.

Speak to your Support Coordinator or contact NewAura directly. We can help you gather the right evidence, prepare for your planning meeting, and connect you with the right practitioners to get these supports included in your plan.
